The Ricky Hendrick Centers for Intensive Care, supported by a generous gift from the Hendrick Family, includes Levine Children's Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the region's first Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
The PICU and its highly trained staff provide care for the most critically ill and injured children from across the region, supporting the Level I Trauma service offered through our Emergency Department. Our CVICU provides specialized, immediate post-operative care for children following heart surgery as well as an ECMO (heart-lung bypass) program.
The intensive care floor was designed keeping in mind the special needs of the families of our most critically ill or injured children. The spacious waiting area includes large-screen TVs, a family dining area, a quiet respite room with recliners and private family waiting areas for critical situations.
Enabling parents to stay close to their children as much as possible while still managing their daily lives, the intensive care floor includes sleeping rooms for families as well as a family business center designed to help parents keep up with business obligations. Take a virtual tour of the family waiting area.
