Our comprehensive pediatric team brings many years of experience and expertise to the practice of pediatric rehabilitation. This team will individually tailor the patient's inpatient program to best meet the needs of the patient and work to return the patient to the highest level of functioning possible.
Once admitted, the patient will be assigned to this team, led by one of our dedicated pediatric rehabilitation physicians. This physician will work with all other rehabilitation professionals to design the best course of treatment for the patient.
The inpatient pediatric rehabilitation services are housed within Levine Children's Hospital. Our inpatient team consists of: board certified pediatric rehabilitation physicians, pediatric physicial therapists, rehabilitation certified nurses, pediatric occupational therapists, speech therapists, recreational therapists, pediatric neuropsychologists, a cognitive education specialized school teacher, child life specialists, and nutrition experts. As part of our team working with pediatric/adolescent patients in LCH, we work with children and their families during their early stages of recovery following an acute illness or injury.
Outpatient pediatric rehabilitation services are provided by our specially trained physicians who provide comprehensive rehabilitation evaluation and assessments of children with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and neurological impairment. Our staff is experienced in working with pediatrics and are highly-specialized in their field. Many of our nursing staff members are Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurses (CRRN), and bring excellent functional skills and a comprehensive approach to their practice. In addition, the therapy team works with the patient on the skills needed to perform a wide range of daily tasks before the patient returns home or to the community, so that they may live as independently as possible.
