Rock Against Cancer, a national nonprofit organization, and the Vann McDuffie Fund have generously committed $20,000 to Levine Children's Hospital (LCH) to enhance the facility's emerging music therapy program. The gift will help to support a part-time music therapist position for the program. With Rock Against Cancer's additional donation of instruments, music therapy will become a more integral part of caring for children at LCH. 'Music therapy is vital to pediatric patients' well-being,' said Wanda Baker, RN, BSN, Coordinator of Neonatal & Pediatric Palliative Care at LCH.

Rock Against Cancer's programs empower and support the emotional needs of children and teens fighting cancer. By March 2007, there will be 10 programs nationwide, including their new initiative, 'School of Rock,' which helps to provide patients and their families with music therapy and an opportunity to create, perform, and record their original compositions.

The Vann McDuffie Fund was established in 2003 in honor of Vann McDuffie, a former patient at Levine Children's Hospital. The Fund provides long-term support for pediatric cardiology care and other programs within The Children's Hospital.

Thanks to Rock Against Cancer and the Vann McDuffie Fund for giving the gift of music to our children.
