Neonatal and Pediatric Transport
Med Center Air offers a dedicated specialty team to care for neonatal and pediatric patients coming to Levine Children's Hospital. MedCenter Air is fully licensed and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services as a neonatal and pediatric transport service. Each Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Team consists of a transport nurse and a transport respiratory therapist with advanced skills and experience in neonatal and pediatric services as well as the medical transport environment. Crew certifications include EMT-P, NRP, PALS, ACLS, BTLS / ATLS.
Medical direction is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for consultation while waiting for our team's arrival. Services include transport by ambulance, helicopter or fixed wing aircraft. In addition to inter-facility and scene transports, contracted transport services from other facilities not returning to Carolinas HealthCare System are also available.
Educational programs and in-services are available by request. Also available is a 30-minuted video titled “Precious Cargo” which was created to educate parents and families about what occurs before, during and after their newborn is transported to another facility. This video is available to any hospital which transports patients to Carolinas HealthCare System facilities.
