Critical Care physicians at Levine Children's Hospital provide medical management and care to the most critically ill or injured infants and children. A full range of intensive care services are available for children age 0-18 who are at risk for or suffering from life-threatening conditions.
Services include:
- Providing resuscitation, stabilization, and transportation of patients to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and within the hospital
- Monitoring invasive and noninvasive strategies for oxygen system support
- Supporting pulmonary, cardiovascular, cerebral, and metabolic functions when organ systems fail
- Consulting with subspecialty surgeons pre- and post-operatively to provide seamless care for critically ill surgical patients
- Coordination with the trauma team to provide care for multiple-trauma pediatric patients
- Medically managing pediatric transplant recipients
- Providing emergency response for all pediatric illness emergencies
- Pediatric ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) or heart/lung bypass
