At Levine Children's Hospital, we strive to create an environment where family members and professionals work together as partners to meet the healthcare needs of children.
Our Family Advisory Council was formed in 2005 and has become a very successful and dynamic group. We are currently accepting applications for a diverse group of family members of patients to serve as volunteers.

We respect the diversity that each family brings to Levine Children's Hospital. We will listen to and value the information families provide to our healthcare team concerning their child. We recognize families are knowledgeable and are the experts regarding their children and will support the decisions they make regarding their child's care.
Family Education
We will strive to provide appropriate medical information to families and provide education resources to help families continue to grow in their knowledge.
Partnership
We value family members as partners and will work with them to provide the best healing environment for the children we serve.

Our Mission:
To take on an advisory role that is inclusive and represents a broad range of identity groups to help open the lines of constructive communication between the hospital and families.
The Family Advisory Council meets monthly and welcomes your input.
Criteria for Membership
-
Must have a least one experience in Levine Children's Hospital.

Serve a 2 year term.

Attend all Council meetings.

Participate in at least one Taskforce.

Consult and be a positive influence with the hospital staff and administration.

Demonstrate energy and commitment to help LCH move forward as a leader among Children's Hospitals.
Role of the Family Advisory Council
-
Support and strengthen communication and collaboration among patients, family members and hospital staff.

Provide input and feedback regarding the delivery of services for children and their families.

Collaborate with hospital leadership to improve the quality of care provided to children and their families at our institution.

Serve as a resource as requested by hospital administration on developing services, programs, and new patient care areas.

Bring the needs of the community to the attention of hospital staff and administration.
Accomplishments
-
Conducted annual family-centered care training sessions for physicians and other staff.

Participated in tours and provided input on all aspects of the Levine Children's Hospital - both before and after the facility opened.

Implementation of numbing cream to reduce the pain of needle sticks.

Implementation of a survey to assess family satisfaction with home health care agency.

Implementation of valet parking at the Pediatric Oncology Practice.
- Surveyed community groups to identify gaps in medical resources and provided recommendations to LCH Administration
