Dawn Mason, CPNP

Dawn Mason, CPNP, is the certified pediatric nurse practitioner for Pat's Place, the Levine Children's Hospital Pediatric Resource Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dawn provides examinations for children referred to Pat's Place for alleged sexual abuse, physical abuse and/or neglect. She also participates in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, in which Law Enforcement, Social Workers, Mental Health Clinicians and a representative from the District Attorney's Office discuss cases referred to Pat's Place. This team provides recommendations collectively focused on the child's safety and well being; educates medical residents on how to properly examine children who have been sexually abused through direct observation, discussion, and review of current research. Dawn received her undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and her nursing degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Nursing. She then continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University and received her Master's Degree in Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
